Group Leader - Linda Jones - 863031

Meetings are generally on the third Monday morning of each month in Shanklin.

If the group is full you would be informed if space became available and enquiries are always welcome.

We tend not to have fixed discussion subjects but for everyone in the group to discuss something specific to their research. Discussion topics to date range from organising email folders; layout, format and presentation of family trees; living relatives and of course parish records, wills etc.

To date we have had one outing, to Winchester Record Office where we looked for wills on the National Probate Calendar and checked various Hampshire parish records. It is hoped other outings will be made in future.

One of the original members of the Genealogy Group, Sybil Kent, has relocated to Kent, the county of her birth. We gave her a good send off to wish her well and we will all miss her. She has been an enthusiastic and supportive member of the group and we have followed her journey of discovery into the paternal side of her family with interest. With a little encouragement from all of us she has made contact with living relatives and now has someone to share her passion with in Kent. We have urged her to disclose some of the fantastic discoveries she has made and we are hoping to hear of future developments. Good luck Sybil........
