CLASSICAL MUSIC GROUP - WEST WIGHT

This new group started in March and has had two sessions covering stage music from the 16th century to 20th century musicals. Its scope is classical and light music with the emphasis on melody. It makes use of David Shirley's huge collection of audio and video recordings. The choice lies with its members, but the following schedule gives some idea of its content.

Sessions on the theme of Off the Beaten Track

22nd April: Sullivan: The Golden Legend, Haddon Hall, Ivanhoe, In Memoriam, Merchant of Venice.

29th April: Offenbach: Cello Concerto, Le Papillon, Lischen et Fritzchen, The Grand Duchess.

6th May: Great singers of the early 20th century: Caruso, Gigli, McCormackj, Tetrazzini, Galli-Curci, Schipa, etc.
